The Thor star has stepped into his role for the 2013 Jameson Empire Done In 60 Seconds short film competition, in which would-be producers are challenged to condense their favourite movie into a simple 60-second clip.
Hiddleston is adamant Hollywood needs a regular induction of fresh talent and he is hoping the unique contest will unearth the stars of the future.
He tells WENN, “I think what I’ve seen is that it’s really important in our industry to keep the doors open for new aspiring young talent to join the ranks of the established. It’s very important for everyone to have a voice and film is like every art form, it’s about the authenticity of individual voices…
“It’s quite thrilling when you see first time work, whether its a 60-second type film that’s an homage or a pastiche or something more. It could be hilarious and funny and stupid or it could be weighty and deep or somehow ethereal. I just think there’s room for everybody and I’m excited by seeing it… if you’ve literally got one minute to put your stamp on something, in a way, the constraint of it sharpens your instinct.”
