Tom is nominated at WhatsOnStage Awards

Some of Britain’s hottest stars and several of New York’s acclaimed musicals are up for WhatsOnStage Awards, the recipients of which are announced today, February 15, at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the heart of London’s West End. The awards show is hosted by British performers Mel Giedroyc and Steve Furst.

Broadway favorites like Memphis, Urinetown, and Here Lies Love are all competing against one another in the Best New Musical category, while splashy West End revivals of The Pajama Game and Miss Saigon go head to head in the Best Revival of a Musical category.

The Best Actor in a Play category is filled with stage and screen favorites, with David Tennant, Tom Hiddleston, Richard Armitage, and Mark Strong battling for the recognition. Hiddleston, known for playing Loki in the Avengers films, is nominated for leading the cast of Donmar Warehouse’s Coriolanus, while Doctor Who’s Tennant is also receiving a nomination for Shakespeare with his performance as Richard II at the Barbican. Strong, who can be seen in The Imitation Game, is Eddie Carbone in a new revival of A View From the Bridge. Tom Bateman is nominated for playing a heartthrob version of William Shakespeare himself in Shakespeare in Love.

“Crimson Peak” Trailer Is Released

Here’s the first trailer for Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak, which stars Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam in a gothic haunted house movie, but probably one that has some big-budget set pieces to provide scares and strangeness. Check out the Crimson Peak trailer below, which is powered by a quiet but ominous cover of Nick Cave’s ‘Red Right Hand.’. Screen captures also has been added in our gallery. Crimson Peak opens on October 16.

(Video) Tom’s tongue twister for Sohana Research Fund

Tom participated in an epic tongue twister challenge to raise awareness (and money) for a skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. According to Wikipedia, it is an “inherited connective tissue disease causing blisters in the skin and mucosal membranes, with an incidence of 1 in 50,000. It is a result of a defect in anchoring between the epidermis and dermis, resulting in friction and skin fragility. Its severity ranges from mild to lethal.”

Similar to the Ice bucket challenge, participants recite a difficult tongue twister, talk a little bit about the condition and tag someone else. Tom tagged actors Charlie Hunnam, Dominic West and Gemma Arterton. Make sure you visit the Sohana Research Fund’s official website and learn how you can help!
