Tom Covers Interview Magazine

005.jpg008.jpg

Perhaps one of Tom’s most adventurous photoshoots (still not quite sure what is happening), he is covering Interview magazine for their October issue.

The interview itself has been conducted by Tom’s good friend, Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s very interesting to read and also quite funny reading the banter between Benedict and Tom; also quite a long interview. Below is a little snippet:

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH: Like all interviewers, I should first of all thank you, Tom, for taking this time.

TOM HIDDLESTON: [laughs] Thank you, Benedict. We should just thank each other for our time. For the rest of our lives.

CUMBERBATCH: And then, in typical British fashion, we should just apologize for everything as well.

HIDDLESTON: I’m sorry for disturbing you.

CUMBERBATCH: I’m more sorry than you.

HIDDLESTON: [laughs] How do you feel about …

CUMBERBATCH: My role as a journalist?

HIDDLESTON: I feel conflicted. [laughs]

CUMBERBATCH: I feel my role here is much more as a real friend than a journalist. There will be no curveballs, I promise. But just to get us started, what is it like donning the hair and horns, working with Chris [Hemsworth] again, and working Down Under with Taika [Waititi], your director?

HIDDLESTON: Well, it’s so exciting because I haven’t played Loki for four years. The last time I wore the costume was at San Diego Comic-Con in 2013.

CUMBERBATCH: You’re kidding me!

HIDDLESTON: The best thing about it, honestly, is working with Chris again. I first met him in Kenneth Branagh’s house in England in 2009. We were mere children, in the very beginning of our acting journeys. We made an instant connection, and it’s been extraordinary to share the ride with him—this mad journey with Marvel. Anthony Hopkins has been on set this week. And Taika Waititi is magnificent. He has found a way of honoring everything that came before but doing his own thing. And he’s so funny. His films—and if you haven’t, you must seek them out: What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople—they have this combination of light-hearted, good humor and emotion. They’re very moving. Everyone’s really happy. Of course, we’re just at the beginning.

Tom talks to Time Out Magazine

Tom is on the cover of the upcoming issue of Time Out! He talked to the magazine about ‘High-Rise’ and ‘The Night Manager’, and you can read the article below. A scan of the cover has been added to our photo gallery (click here to view it).

Tom HiddlestonTom Hiddleston is in superbrain mode as he tries to make sense of some of the ideas in his brilliantly loopy new film, ‘High-Rise’, a disturbing vision of urban living gone horribly wrong. ‘My point is, what is reality in the end? Look at us: we’re both in rooms on our own, talking to computers – which is weird when you think about it!’

We’ve spent the past 90 minutes on Skype (with him in Australia, where he’s shooting a movie, and me in London); it’s the second part of a conversation that began in a Bethnal Green café just after Christmas. Hiddleston has been recapping his short, brilliant career that includes playing Loki in the ‘Thor’ movies, starring in ‘War Horse’ and ‘Crimson Peak’, and proving himself a master of Shakespeare on TV and stage. He’s a big star with a big brain; an actor equally at home in out-there arthouse films and mega-budget action movies. Now he has also captured the Sunday-night-TV crowd, playing Jonathan Pine, a hotel worker-turned-MI6 operative, in the thrilling BBC series ‘The Night Manager’, based on a John le Carré novel. He’s clearly hungry to try everything and anything. At one point in our interview he even suggests he might learn a new language just so he can work with foreign directors.
